The Long Walk

Author’s Statement/Contextual Information: During an ICU rotation at the VA, walking the sky bridge became a ritual, a time to set expectations for the day, and to process my experience afterwards. Those steps became a mantra of sorts, a mental transit between on and off shift as much as it was a physical one.

KC is a current PGY-1 in Emergency Medicine at OHSU, with interests including medical education and team dynamics & culture. After their shifts, you can find KC enjoying the chaos of parenting two toddlers, hiking, or winding down with some midnight gardening.
